Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has sought the intervention of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to ensure a thorough and time-bound investigation into the death of 20-year-old Himashree Boro.
Boro, a student of B. Borooah College in Guwahati, went missing while travelling aboard the Dibrugarh Vivek Express from Visakhapatnam to Assam. Her body was later recovered from a forested area in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district.
Sarma has urged the authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death. A senior Assam Police officer has also been deputed to Andhra Pradesh to coordinate with local investigators.
The case has raised serious concerns over women's safety during train journeys. The circumstances surrounding Boro’s death remain under investigation, with her family seeking answers and accountability.
