Elon Musk Takes Fresh Dig at Ambani Over Starlink’s India Entry

NEW DELHI | October 10, 2026

Elon Musk has renewed his criticism of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani over the delay in launching Starlink’s satellite internet services in India, using sarcasm to question the influence of established telecom players.

In a post on X, the SpaceX chief mocked Ambani as India’s “real boss” and questioned whether Reliance would allow Starlink to compete. Musk argued that satellite internet could connect underserved communities, helping students access education and enabling small businesses to reach wider markets.

The remarks have intensified the debate over competition in India’s telecom sector. However, the government has maintained that satellite internet providers must meet the required security and regulatory conditions before beginning commercial operations.

With Starlink awaiting the necessary clearances, the dispute has brought renewed attention to market competition, regulatory transparency and internet access in underserved regions.
